PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE:
The Investment Operations Analyst will provide trade support for Trading and Portfolio Management by acting as an intermediary between internal and external parties. This role will assist the management team by providing analysis and recommendations to improve efficiency, reduce risk of monetary loss to funds, and lower costs within Pioneer.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Liase with brokers, custodian banks, transfer agencies and multiple internal departments including trading, portfolio management, compliance, fund accounting and international Pioneer sites in order to resolve current and potential trading issues for a number of cash and security transactions.
- Maintain account and system integrity by supporting data feeds from various channels to internal systems while keeping up with industry standards (SWIFT), adapting to market changes and achieving straight-through-processing.
- Write and organize department procedures to enhance the quality and effectiveness of the company's mutual fund operations, therefore improving workflow efficiency, reducing costs and ensuring continuous process improvement.
- Analyze, monitor, produce and validate cash balances for all accounts. This may include execution and repatriation of currency transactions in order to reduce overdraft exposure.
- Produce, interpret and reconcile daily portfolio cash and positions between internal and custodian systems for delivery to a multitude of customers for investment decision purposes and compliance testing.
- Assist the management team by completing assigned and ad hoc project requests in a timely manner in order to reduce manual efforts for derivative and other complex security transactions as well as improve workflow throughout the entire Pioneer organization.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business equivalent field
- Two or more years of relevant experience within the financial industry
Preferred:
- Experience with third party vendor applications that use SWIFT formatted messaging standards
- Product knowledge for selected investment systems (Charles River, BBH Infomediary, Aladdin, FXall, and Omgeo products)

Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage the budgets for all Developmental Disabilities Services programs, approximately $30M annually.
- Identify, analyze, and correct budget variances and report on these monthly to senior management.
- Act as a central liaison, meeting regularly with program staff, central administration, and senior management to review and assess fiscal procedures, program expenses, and program operations against budgets and contracts.
- Provide a resource for problem solving and training on cost coding, financial report interpretation, and information sharing.
- Work closely with program staff to monitor client service expenses against funding on hand and prepare funding requests as needed.
- Manage 30+ state contracts.
- Work with funders to resolve contract problems as they arise, and Accounts Receivable and program staff to ensure proper billing.

- Participate in annual audit, including preparing audit schedules, reviewing and adjusting year-end general ledger, and providing information to auditors.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Services Management, or related field, plus at least two years analytical accounting experience.
- Five years of experience may be substituted for degree requirement.
- Human Services experience and prior experience with state contracts required (applicants without this experience will not be considered).
- Experience developing and managing a complex budget.
- High degree of general computer literacy; proficiency in Excel and ability to learn new applications quickly.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to plan and execute complex assignments within narrow timeframes.
- Ability to comprehend program goals, objectives, and operations and to relate these to budgetary analysis.
- Knowledge of GAAPS principles.

Accounting Management Solutions has been retained by our Client to conduct their search for a Director of Finance. The Client is a nonprofit agency helping individuals, families, and communities in Massachusetts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare all financial reports, including internal financial statements; reports to federal, state, local government, and private funding sources; federal tax returns, state filings and reports for government regulatory agencies.
Provide financial reports and information to the CEO, Management, Treasurer, Finance Committee and Board of Directors to inform decision-making and to project financial status of agency.
Budget vs. actual reporting and analysis.
Work with management to identify funds for building reserves and for investment.
Ensure coordination of the annual independent audit and other federal, state and local program reviews or audits, including review by Audit Committee. Evaluate operations to identify cost containment and increased revenue opportunities, and recommends operational changes to leadership team and manager/supervisors.
Assure maximum revenue from payors and patients by maximizing billing rates and collection in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
Provide reports on cash flows and prepares cash projections as requested.
Executive analysis to inform decision-making and to project financial strength of the agency.
Coordinate the annual independent audit and other federal, state and local program reviews or audits, including review by Audit Committee.
Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to provide for internal control and to assure the safeguarding of assets, regulatory compliance and the reliability of financial statements and reports. Establish purchasing policies that provide for optimal use of funds.
Operate finance and accounting function within GAAP and government auditing standards, including OMB, Section A-133 and Massachusetts Executive Office of Administration and Finance.
Oversee, mentor and guide the Finance Department including GL, payroll, AP, AR, and budget/contracts.
Manage banking and other financial institution relationships, including investment of funds.
Assure compliance with debt obligations and reporting.
Work as a change agent cross organizationally through collaboration with the members of the Senior Management Team and other managers as necessary.
All other duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in accounting or business administration with specialization in accounting or finance
Understanding of federal and state contracts
Knowledge of Great Plains and/or automated accounting and finance reporting systems including Excel
Audit coordination experience
10 years nonprofit financial management experience
Experience managing, mentoring and developing staff

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
Strong academic achievement with 2-4 years of relevant accounting experience (public accounting preferred)
Exposure to and understanding of corporate consolidated financial statements

As an Analyst at Market Metrics, you will work closely with Associates and other Analysts to design research studies, analyze results, and help support client relationships. Through participating in all phases of a Market Metrics study, Analysts develop a critical set of skills. The Analyst position is designed to be a two to three year role. After that time, a combination of excellent performance and increased experience on your project teams will make you eligible for promotion to Associate.
